When I began this journey to Vancouver, never did I expect to come home with this kind of contentment and satisfaction on how well things went. I must admit that travelling so far away from home to meet up with people you don`t know can be a little scary. But I know I`m walking away from all of this with friends for life as well as memories that will remain with me for the rest of my life. My journey to Vancouver started on August 23. I left work at 3pm and began the 3 hour trek to Bangor, Maine to take my first flight towards the Pacific Coast. This wasn’t my first adventure to the world of conventions. Back in March I went to Atlanta, Georiga to attend a Vampire Diaries convention put on by EyeCon conventions. I promised myself not to let this review turn into a bashing of EyeCon but I have to advise those considering their conventions to meet their favourite stars of any series to think twice before doing it. And then, it was THE DAY! The whole convention was awesome, but I must admit that the final reason I chose VanCon versus BostonCon or NJCon, which are in DRIVING DISTANCE from me, was because I had to meet Jensen Ackles. Seeing the locations and getting to watch filming was the icing on red velvet cake! They are definitely things you can’t do at any other Con. They were so wonderful to experience! But in the end, it came down to one man for me. I had to meet Jensen. So THIS was the day for me. And such a great day it was! My roommates had the Gold J and J Breakfast to go to—which actually turns out to be the only thing that makes me think that maybe I might want to check out a convention Gold style at some point. I went downstairs and got a bagel and coffee from the wannabe Starbucks in the downstairs area of the lobby. I then went up and sat in the lobby for a few minutes. Hey Guys! This is just a fly-by post because I have to run back downstairs to get ready for the next stuff for the convention. I wanted to let you all know that I had an opportunity to tell Jared about our mini-fundraiser for A Dogs Life Rescue. I told him I run a fansite and we decided 2 months ago to do a mini fundraiser that raised $1,000. His reaction was priceless. He was definitely happy about it and also stunned that we did this. I also mentioned that I know we aren’t supposed to give gifts, however I had a letter and a list of those who donated and the fans would love nothing more than for him to read their names. He nearly ripped the envelope out of my hand and said he would read it later. I showed him one of our t-shirts that we sold on our Cafe Press Store (The Demon Hunter Checklist design, which you can purchase one right here and proceeds will continue to go to A Dogs Life Rescue) and he got a kick out of it.
