Ramblings On…Episode 7×12: Time After Time (spoilers)

2012 | Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Ramblings On, Season 7, Spoilers, Supernatural, Uncategorized

“Everybody loses everybody and then one day BOOM your number’s up. But at least you’re making a difference. So enjoy it while it lasts, kid, because hunting’s the only clarity you’re gonna find in this life. That makes you luckier than most.” I loved this episode. As much as I loved Season Six’s “Frontierland”, this episode trumps that one by, well, a lot in my opinion. Written by Robbie Thompson (who also wrote this season’s “Slash Fiction”), and directed by Phil Sgriccia, “Time After Time” has to be hands down my favorite episode of this season, and among my favorite episodes of the series. The episode was a perfect storm of casting, costumes, setting, music and storytelling! A little warning–I have gone a little nuts with the pictoral representation of the episode on my review. Thank you CW, and specifically Winchester Family Business for the awesome stills. In “Time AFter Time”, Sam and Dean find out about a new case from an unexpect More After The Cut...

Ramblings On…Episode 7×10: Death’s Door (Spoilers)

2011 | 2011, Editorial, Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Jim Beaver, Ramblings On, Season 7, Spoilers, Supernatural, Uncategorized

I’m sorry I am so far behind on writing this review! Lots of real life stuff was taking up my time. If you’re interested in my ramblings on that, check out my personal blogs. Truthfully, I have found this episode very difficult to write about. Such an amazing episode, and yet, well, Bobby! John buying the farm in the first episode of Season Two didn’t really bother me much. Sure, it was sad losing Jeffery Dean Morgan, but I was never a fan of John Winchester. I hated the way he treated Dean. I hated the wedge he drove between Sam and Dean. A lot of people love John though. A friend of mine actually commented that John was a real guy’s guy. Yes, this friend is actually a guy. He said that he liked that the writers had the courage to make John a dick… But Bobby is another story. I loved Bobby. I loved how he knew how to get Dean out of his shell. He knew how to make Dean face his issues, to realize that he needed to take care of himself too, not just worry abo More After The Cut...

VanCon 2011: Convention Day 2 (Mildly Spoilery)

2011 | Uncategorized

Well, lucky me I did not decide to pay the money for the Misha Collins meet and greet at 9:15am! I did get up and get to the gym three times while I was in Vancouver. I believe this was one of the mornings…but I also know that later on in the day I needed to take ibuprophen. I had one heck of a headache from Karaoke fun and wine Friday night! I got breakfast and went to Russ Hamilton’s panel at 10:25am. Someone asked Russ what the hardest location to work was and why. He said that no matter what location, there are always issues that come up. There was the mansion though and going in there to film was difficult. There was a technical survey, and wood floors had been put in about four days before the filming began. There was a break in the water main and they were wrapping for two months because of it! Russ let us know that it takes 8 days to prep for an episode, and 8 days to shoot an episode. He said that during “Good God, Y’all” they had to shut down the town to More After The Cut...

Ramblings On…Supernatural: Coyote’s Kiss (minor spoilers)

2011 | Uncategorized

coyotes kiss

Ah, hellatus. We have to wait until September 23rd for the seventh season to commence…But in between conventions, marathon Supernatch viewings and possibly contemplating a little too much on “life, the universe and everything”, why not pick up a Supernatural tie-in novel? Technically, three are out this summer—Rebecca Dessertine’s One Year Gone came out earlier (catch my review on that), John Passarella’s Night Terror will be out in September, but Christa Faust’s Coyote’s Kisscame out just last month. I have to admit, at first I was dubious about this one. I didn’t know anything about Faust, and I really hadn’t heard much in the fanbase about this book. That didn’t seem to bode well in the past…The first three Supernatural tie-in books I knew nothing about before reading them and sadly I wasn’t really enamored with them. I just didn’t feel that the authors really had the characters down. I feel that sometimes authors bend over backwards talking about More After The Cut...

Supernatural’s Executive Producer Sara Gamble was faced with this tough question at the end of Season 5.  Gamble  decided to shake things up, which proved to be unpopular with some fans. Supernatural showrunner Sera Gamble has defended recent changes to the show. She admitted to TV Squad that some fans were unhappy with Dean and Sam’s tense relationship in the show’s sixth season. “This question came up a lot at the end of last season, which is, what do you do after the Apocalypse?” she explained. “We intentionally made big moves [after that]. Supernatural Magazine Issue #21 hits the stands!

2010 | Interviews, Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, News, Season 6, Supernatural, Uncategorized

supernaturalissue21

The magazine we storm Barnes and Noble or Borders for the new copy has arrived! This Tuesday is the official release date for issue #21 of Supernatural Magazine! Luckily, I was able to get mine this weekend at the local Barnes and Noble in Enfield, Connecticut. Sorry for the picture of a picture but I don’t have a scanner and couldn’t find the actual image online yet! But this is the copy I picked up on Saturday… This issue features an interview with Mark Sheppard about playing Crowley. There is another interview with Jensen Ackles about his directing experiences, and tons of behind the scenes images. There are also features with Steven Williams (Rufus Turner), Kim Rhodes (Sheriff Jody Mills) and Sebastian Roche (Balthazar). My favorite article was a state by state play on where the Winchesters have hunted! The Midwest clearly wins it, but I was happy to notice my home state of Massachusetts as being twice visited in episodes by the boys. Every year Supernatu More After The Cut...

New Book! Supernatural: War of the Sons

2010 | Supernatural, Uncategorized

A new Supernatural novel was released on August 31, 2010, written by Rebecca Dessertine and David Reed. This is their first Supernatural novelization. They are, however, very familiar with the inner workings of the show–David Reed co-wrote the story for the “Hammer of the Gods” episode, and Rebecca Dessertine has worked on Supernatural for three years, co-writing the second series of the comic Supernatural: Rising Son, and co-writing the story for “Swap Meat”. The fact that both of these writers are familiar with the characters pays off. They really bring the characters to life and have captured the voices of Sam and Dean perfectly. Now it is summary time! I do not want to give away the story, so this will be very generalized. The events in the book take place soon after the events in the episode “My Bloody Valentine”. Sam and Dean are desperately looking for a way to avert the apocalypse. Strange Biblical signs lead them to South Dak More After The Cut...

Eric Kripke Tops Shortlist for ‘The Sandman’ TV Series

2010 | Exclusives, News, Supernatural, Uncategorized

Exclu: “The Sandman,” the Neil Gaiman-penned comic book series considered a seminal work in the medium, is in the early stages of being developed into a TV series. Warner Bros. TV is in the midst of acquiring television rights from sister company DC Entertainment and is in talks with several writer-producers about adapting the 1990s series. At the top of the list is Eric Kripke, creator of the CW’s horror-tinged “Supernatural.” “Sandman” told the tale of Morpheus, the Lord of the Dreaming, a deity who personifies dreams. The book began in the horror realm but quickly made its mark in fantasy and mythology as Gaiman introduced the Endless, a group of powerful brothers and sisters that includes Destiny, Death, Destruction, Despair, Desire and Delirium (as well as Dream). The book helped establish DC’s Vertigo imprint and won several awards. It also was one of the few comics that segued from the comics crowd, entering the intellectual and art worlds and winning More After The Cut...
